The Minister for Communications, Denis Naughten T.D. has secured Government approval for the appointments to the Board and Statutory Committees of the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland.
The following appointments have been made:

Welcoming the appointments, Minister Naughten said: 'Today's appointments bring a wealth of experience and expertise to the Authority and its Statutory Committees. I am delighted to appoint candidates of this calibre and I wish them well in the important work ahead.'
The Authority has overall responsibility for the operation and functioning of the BAI, which includes setting the strategic direction of the organisation.
The Compliance Committee has the role of ensuring that broadcasters comply with their licence conditions and with the standards set out in the broadcasting codes and rules. The Contract Awards Committee has the role of licensing independent commercial and community broadcasters, such as local radio stations or digital television providers.

Biographies of Appointees
Mary Curtis has served in a number of senior positions in media, including deputy Director of Television at RTÉ and head of UTV Ireland. She also served on the Board of RTÉ for 6 years. She is currently working as a Broadcasting and Media Consultant.
Clodagh O'Donnell has held a wide variety of senior roles in large multinational organisations in the UK and Ireland, as well as executive positions in RTE (Group Head of IT) and Aer Lingus. She has over 25 years' business experience and held a wide variety of senior roles in both private and public sector organisations, in Ireland and the UK. She spent 15 years as a management consultant with multinational organisations such as Fujitsu, IBM and PA Consulting Group.
Eileen Maher has spent the past 30 years in the telecoms industry with commercial and technical experience. She has strong strategic, commercial, transformation, regulatory and legal experience. She was the Director of Strategy and External Affairs in Vodafone. She has a track record for developing and executing key strategic initiatives and a history of negotiating commercial joint ventures, partnerships and acquisitions.
Professor Kevin Rafter is currently Professor of Political Communication at Dublin City University having previously held a number of senior editorial positions in the Irish media sector. He has executive and non-executive experience in diverse organisations including as a Non-Executive Director at Dublin Bus and Oxfam Ireland.
