Circular Economy

The principles underpinning the circular economy can help reduce the loss of value to economies and communities that can arise through the traditional production/consumption model of take/make/dispose.

Instead by preventing waste, reusing materials already in circulation and recycling the rest, Ireland can stem the leakage of resources from the economy; creating jobs and building economic resilience.

Ireland supports the Circular Economy proposals presented by the Commission, and recognises that although certain elements of the waste legislative package may prove challenging, the potential for jobs and the environment is a valuable opportunity for the country.
