The Commission for Energy Regulation (CER) is Ireland's independent energy regulator. The CER was established in 1999 and now has a wide range of economic, customer protection and safety responsibilities in energy. In addition, the CER is Ireland's economic regulator of the Irish public water and wastewater sector. Policy for this area is the responsibility of the Minister for Environment, Community and Local Government.
