The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI) handles complaints concerning programmes or advertisements by Radio and TV broadcasters licensed in Ireland. Its Compliance Committee investigates and decides upon complaints made by the public.

Complaints should be directed to the broadcaster in the first instance. Complaints should be made in the manner outlined in the broadcaster’s Code of Practice for Complaints Handling. The BAI complaints guide provides the relevant contact details and links for each broadcaster.

All broadcasters are required to have a code of practice in place for handling complaints. If a broadcaster does not comply with their Code of Practice, or if you are not satisfied with their response, you can refer your complaint to the BAI.

Complaints Process

The BAI has developed a guide to the complaints process which details how broadcasters and the BAI will handle complaints.
