Dublin, 10 September 2015
Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources, Alex White, today announced the extension of the public consultations seeking views on whether the government should broaden the range of renewable energy technologies that receive financial support from the state until 18 September 2015. One consultation focuses on technologies that can deliver renewable electricity, while the other focusses on renewable heat systems.
The Minister said that the extension had been granted at the request of a number of key stakeholders and will help ensure that citizens, industry and other stakeholders have the opportunity to submit their views before the programme moves to the design options phase later this year. The Minister confirmed that this will not have an impact on the overall project timelines and that, subject to state aid and government approval, he expects both schemes to be available in 2016.
