Dublin, 4 November 2015
Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources, Alex White T.D.,
today congratulated Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) Chief
Executive Brian Motherway on his appointment as Head of the Energy Efficiency Division
at the International Energy Agency (IEA).
Minister White said Dr Motherway had made an important contribution to the
development and implementation of Irish energy policy. He said: “I would like
to express my personal appreciation, and that of the Government, for Dr
Motherway’s important work at the SEAI over the last three years.
"Under his leadership, we have seen substantial achievements in
sustainable energy policy in the areas of energy efficiency and renewables.
This work will help Ireland to move to a low-carbon energy future over the
coming years. It is a tribute to these achievements that Dr Motherway has been
selected for such an important role in the IEA and I wish him all the best in
his future endeavours.”
Dr Motherway will take up his new post in December. Minister White said that the SEAI Board would
start working with the Public Appointments Service (PAS) to begin the process
of finding a replacement shortly.
