The Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment Mr. Denis Naughten strongly welcomes the announcement by ComReg that it is launching a public consultation in relation to non-geographic numbers with a view to increasing transparency on the pricing of calls on these lines.
'I welcome this significant initiative by ComReg which will be of benefit to us all as consumers. It will also strengthen the Regulator's role in consumer protection. It represents a useful opportunity for the public and all stakeholders to engage with ComReg on its proposals that will enhance transparency on pricing and streamline number ranges to improve services for users. This will hugely assist in addressing the current confusion around the use and charges for the different non-geographic numbers. I would strongly urge people to participate and contribute in the consultation process and make their views known. I look forward to seeing the results.'
