Cancellation of the Register of Excepted Minerals
The Register of Excepted Minerals was created under Section 15 of the Minerals Development Act 1979. This Register was cancelled by Section 212 (2) of the Minerals Development Act 2017, which was enacted on the 26th July 2017. A notification to the Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment was required to continue on the Register of Excepted Minerals under the 2017 Minerals Development Act.
The closing date for receipt of notifications to remain on the Register of Excepted Minerals has now passed.
The Minister will refer the notifications received to the Mining Board. The Mining Board must be satisfied that the Minerals were being lawfully worked on 24th October, 2017 and will notify those who are to be included on the new Register of Excepted Minerals.
