Geological Survey Ireland

Geological Survey Ireland (GSI) is the national Earth science agency. It is a division of the Department of Communications, Climate Action & Environment and has about 90 multidisciplinary staff.

GSI is responsible for providing high quality data and reliable geoscience support and advice for sustainable development of Ireland's natural resources (including groundwater), environmental protection, climate change, citizen safety and efficient spatial planning.

GSI acts as a knowledge centre and a project partner in all aspects of Irish geology. It also hosts the Geoscience Ireland business cluster and coordinates and supports geoscience research and outreach activities in Ireland.
