Farm Hazardous Waste Collection

‚ÄčThe farm hazardous collection campaign was initiated in 2013, and is led by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) working with a cross-government team that includes the Department of Communications, Climate Action and Environment (DCCAE), Teagasc, the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM),and local authorities.

The objective of the campaign is to facilitate the collection, recovery and disposal of hazardous waste from farms, assess the types and quantities of wastes collected during this period, estimate the types and quantities of farm hazardous wastes stockpiled on farms, and to provide sound evidence to support the establishment of a suitable and affordable national scheme for the management of farm hazardous wastes.

The campaign has also clearly confirmed that farmers want to manage these wastes in an appropriate manner as evident by their voluntary participation in large numbers and by their financial contribution towards the safe disposal of such wastes.

Details of the 2017 collections are outlined on the links below.
