At the Forum we look forward to welcoming new and existing representatives from across various networks, Government departments and interested parties to explore how we can work together to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

The theme for this session of the Forum is SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals

The key note presentation will be given by David Donoghue, Former Ambassador of Ireland to the United Nations who chaired the negotiations agreeing the Sustainable Development Goals back in 2015.

This will be followed by Minister of State at the Department of Communications, Climate Action and Environment Sean Canney T.D, who will speak about the Volunteer Strategy, PPNs and the Sustainable Development Goal Champions. Following this there will be a presentation by Columba O Dowd in relation to the partnerships that the Department of Foreign Affairs have fostered and grown through Global Ireland and our work abroad.

Questions and Answers will follow each of the presentations.

We will then have a panel discussion with four organisations who are all part of the Coalition 2030 Umbrella – Valerie Duffy - NYCI, David Joyce - ICTU, Niamh Garvey – Trocaire and Micheal Ewing – IEN.

We have amended the format of the Forum following feedback received from the July Forum. Again we will be using a facilitator and we will also reuse the Sli.do application that we used in January and July. This will allow for a greater participation in what we expect will be a very interesting theme for debate.

The afternoon sessions will involve an opportunity for an in-depth discussion on youth engagement in Ireland with regard to the SDGs.

The full agenda for the day can be found below.

Finally, as piloted so successfully at the last number of Fora, and in line with our objective of ensuring that the Forum offers an information sharing platform for as many as possible, helping to build new connections and share experiences, we have arranged for spaces to be made available where guests can place stands and other promotion information for those in attendance.

If you wish to avail of this opportunity, please contact us on SDGsIRL@DCCAE.gov.ie and we will arrange early access to the Conference Centre from 8.30 am onwards to facilitate assemble of any promotion stands etc.

We look forward to welcoming you to your Forum on the 18th October.
