Eircodes and the National Ploughing Championships

This year's National Ploughing Championships was held once again at Screggan, Tullamore, Co Offaly.  It ran over three days, 19th – 21st September.  While our Department has previously had a strong presence at the ploughing, this year the Department expanded our presence even further.  Several divisions within the Department and some of the agencies under our remit were all to be found in one area at the Championship.  Visitors to the Department's marques were delighted to be able to see and visit the stands related to the Department in one general area.  Some of our stands were from the Geological Survey Ireland, Climate Mitigation and Awareness, SEAI, EPA, Inland Fisheries Irealnd, Region Waste Management Offices, Bord na Móna, Angling Development Funding Call.  We also had a stands for some of our different in-house programmes, such as :-

  • Eircodes
  • School Digital Champion Programme
  • Getting Citizens Online Programme
  • Trading Online Voucher Scheme
  • Mobile phone and broadband Taskforce
  • National Broadband Plan Information
  • National Broadband Plan Map viewer
  • Local Authority area

Staff from the Department's Eircode division were kept busy over the three days, helping visitors find their Eircode.    We had some guest speakers who gave short presentations on the benefits of Eircodes to both business and the general public.  You can read more on the benefits of Eircodes on our case studies page.  Eircode, the project management licence holder also had a stand at the Championship.  If you were unable to attend either of the stands you can receive your own card with a pre-printed Eircode by contacting or phone 0818 300 005.
