This year's National Ploughing Championships drew a record 291,500 visitors to Screggan, Tullamore, Co. Offaly on 19, 20, and 21 September 2017.
The National Broadband Plan hosted a dedicated marquee at the Ploughing.
The team were delighted to meet many people from all around the country and deal with their queries regarding access to High Speed Broadband.
Members of the public were shown the National Broadband Plan High Speed Broadband Map and advised how they can access high speed broadband in their own homes and businesses.
On Wednesday 20 September Minister Naughten visited the Ploughing and met with visitors and staff at the marquee. Minister Naughten emphasised the significant progress made in rollout of high speed broadband under the National Broadband Plan.
On Thursday 21 September Minister for Rural and Community Development Michael Ring visited our marquee and highlighted the role of the Local Authorities and Broadband Officers in assisting rollout.
As part of the event Fergal Mulligan (Programme Director) and Patrick Neary (Chief Technical Officer - Telecommunications) presented an information and Q&A session on the progress in the National Broadband Plan.
Other Department stands in the National Broadband Plan marquee included the Mobile Phone and Broadband Taskforce, Eircodes, National Digital Strategy (Trading Online Vouchers, School Digital Champion and Getting Citizens Online) and Local Authority policy and strategy presented by the Department of Rural and Community Development.
