On 6 October 2017, Minister Naughten and Minister Kyne co-hosted the first National Stakeholder Forum. This event took place as part of the Mobile Phone and Broadband Taskforce. It allowed stakeholders to discuss issues impacting on the rollout of telecoms infrastructure.
Attendees at the event were from a diverse range of stakeholder backgrounds. They included telecommunications companies, community representative groups, the Commission for Communications Regulation, local authorities and relevant Government Departments.
The Forum allowed an open dialogue on issues impacting on the rollout of telecommunications infrastructure. It also afforded an opportunity for stakeholders to highlight any barriers experienced in the implementation of actions identified by the Taskforce. The discussions which took place at the Forum informed the development of actions for the 2018 Work Programme. The Ministers published this on 21 February 2018 as part of the Implementation Review 2017.
This Department and the Department of Rural and Community Development have produced a Report of the National Stakeholder Forum. This gives further details of the discussions that took place.
