Over the last number of years, our need for broadband has changed dramatically. Despite this, there continues to be large parts of the country that operators have made it clear they cannot address commercially. For this reason the State intervened through the National Broadband Scheme (NBS) to ensure a basic broadband availability throughout the country and the Rural Broadband Scheme (RBS). These Schemes have now expired.
The focus now is to provide high speed broadband to all parts of Ireland, through the National Broadband Plan and our proposed intervention.
