Schools 100Mbps Project

All 780+ post primary schools in Ireland now have access to 100Mbps high speed broadband.  The aim of this project was to ensure that all second level students can enhance their learning experience through digital.

The national roll-out of 100mpbs broadband to post primary schools followed a successful pilot phase of the programme in 2010.  During the pilot phase 78 schools nationwide were connected. A decision to expand the programme to all schools was announced by Government in February of 2012.

This Department worked with the Department of Education and Science, HEAnet (Ireland’s Educational and Research Network) and the Professional Development Services for Teachers - Technology in Education (PDST-TIE).
