Emergency Call Answering Service (ECAS) Industry Consultation

Requesting assistance from the emergency services is one of the most important telephone calls made. In Ireland, the Emergency Call Answering Service (ECAS) is responsible for answering and transferring all calls (112 and 999) to the Emergency Services in the State.

The Department of Communications, Energy & Natural Resources is preparing for the appointment of a new ECAS operator. In this context, the Department launched a consultation on a number of key matters which will assist the DCENR in ensuring the continuing effective functioning of the ECAS. This consultation closed on 22 April 2016.

Submissions received are being carefully considered with a view to managing the ECAS procurement process.
