1. The International Whaling Commission (IWC) last met in Brazil in 2018 and is due to meet again in Slovenia in 2021. Ireland is a Member State of the IWC. The IWC allows Whale Catches to be carried out by certain Aboriginal and Eskimo Communities for Nutritional and Cultural purposes. This is known as Aboriginal Subsistence Whaling (ASW).  Member States are asked to vote at the IWC Conference on whether to either continue with this allowance,
increase the allowance, decrease the allowance, or stopping it completely.

I understand that Ireland votes at the IWC to maintain ASW. Is this true? If yes will this be Irelands voting position on ASW at the next IWC conference in 2021, and for the foreseeable future?

2. I understand that all EU States which would include Ireland vote to maintain ASW as a block vote. Is this true? If yes, does the EU/European Commission Direct all member states and Ireland specifically to vote to maintain ASW or is this left to the discretion of each individual member state? Will this policy continue for the foreseeable future?

3. Please provide me with the most recent documents from the EU/European Commission to Ireland that either instruct, direct or advise-whichever the case may be, the Government/State of Ireland to vote at the IWC on the specific issue of ASW in the way the EU/European Commission choose/wish its Member States to vote on this issue. The documents concerned should also provide the EU/European Commission contact details of the specific office within the EU/European Commission including email addresses that deal specifically with the matters I have raised here.

Access to MMO recording forms under Access to Information on the Environment (AIE) specifically the excel spreadsheets for the seismic survey carried out in 2011 by PGS on behalf of San Leon Energy in the Porcupine Seabight.

AIE202018Member of the Public

13 August 2020

Request access to MMO recording forms under Access to Information on the Environment (AIE) for the following works.

1. The seismic survey carried out in 2011 by PGS on behalf of San Leon Energy in the Porcupine Seabight.

2. All works carried out in the Corrib by Shell and now Vermilion since inception of NPWS guidelines in 2007.

Since 2007 MMO records have been recorded on to excel spreadsheets and standard formats were required for these and required under licencing to be submitted within 30 days of each project completion.

Additionally under this request I would also need to know who is tasked with reviewing MMO data and standards for offshore work currently administered by DCCAE and specifically this is:

1. Survey mapping carried out by the Geological Survey of Ireland.

2. Cable route surveys and cable laying in the Irish EEZ outside the 12 mile limit.

3. Oil and Gas work offshore administered by PAD.

On 13/08/2020 the request was refined to:

Please just confine the AIE request to the San Leon Energy job in 2011 where I really need excel spreadsheets. The Corrib data appears to be in pdf format largely and fairly unusable as such.
